I personally am a Hillary supporter (everyone gasp:), I realize there are a lot of Obama supporters on my flist and that is a non-issue- both have their merits. To those of you who are Obama fans- i am not posting this to breed dissention or try and change your stance but i did think the article made a very good point about recent events. I've also said from the outset that my main issues with Obama are not his platform but rather his lack of experience and promises for radical change in Washington which i think he can't pull off. Radical change in Washington doesn't happen, the US government is not just one man, and attempts to shake things too much too fast will isolate a politican with his congress and those in congress, whether one likes it or not, are the ones who vote on change. The last drastic change that happened in Washington was with FDR and there were two main reasons for that- he threatened to stack the courts in his favor AND he had four terms- not options for todays leaders. Also i feel a lot of voters are blinded by Obamas rhetoric that they are overlooking the viablity of his promises and soundness of his policies. They are mezmorized by charisma. This can be a dangerous thing- it can make people blind. Reagan was elected to a second term by a landslide yet raised taxes to an all-time high and gave big businesses huge tax breaks- why? In large part because he was very charismatic.
So i'm posting the link to this article just for thought provoking purposes (a lesson in listening to WHAT is said not HOW it is said) not so much about the racial firestorm that has swirled around his candidacy. With that said though one does have to ask the very preplexing question how can a man preach unity and equality yet attend Pastor Wrights obviously bigoted church for 20 years?
