new tenant

A decidely waspy looking woman moved into the recently vacated apartment upstairs across from us yesterday. The reason i took notice was b/c she furnished the whole thing with brand new furniture! When the furniture truck (think midsize uhaul here) pulled up i figured she was getting a piece. No no, the whole damn truck was hers.

I inconspicously watched from my living room window as this massive amount of real wood and leather furntiure, from nightstands and beds w/ mattresses and boxsprings, to sofas and loveseats was unloaded. It had to be $4000 or more worth of furnishings- insane. And not only did she pay for the items but paid for delivery and unpacking too- which was decidely poor i may add and makes me believe that the only way i'll ever pay for furniture delivery would be if i watched them like a hawk. Several items were almost dropped, the entertainment center came out of the truck chipped, and attaching pieces were thrown on the concrete in an inattentive frenzy. Nice.

What leaves me in even more amazement is that i have seen no personal possessions being moved in yet- so there is still no telling what else she may or may not be moving in there.

So we have reached the conclusion that this woman is a bitter divorcee who has recently recieved a large settlement from her uber rich husband who traded her in for a "younger model." Not really passing judgement but its fun to speculate. Regardless i have never seen someone furnish an apartment brand new in one fell swoop.

shut up

No Net

No I'm not dead but my internet connection is (since sunday night), and if i can't solve it in the next couple of days then u can also pronounce the comp dead too as it gets hurled off a second story balcony! Needless to say i'm not in a great mood at the moment, typing to you from a crappy comp with a questionable screen in our biz center. When and if i can ever get back online in the privacy of my own home i'll update. I'm already so behind with everyone its ridculous but i guess i'll survive. On the flippity flop..........

upstairs

Having an upstairs neighbor, at least in an apartment setting (ie. four years) is a new thing for us and when we first moved in the maintance guy told me that the fairly attractive woman above had already moved around the complex once b/c of noisey neighbors. Apparently shes a night nurse and a bitch to boot- or so it goes. By no means have we ever lived like mice- i crank my music, have drunk get togethers, bang headboards, etc., and abide by a policy of if you tolerate my noise i'll tolerate yrs (to a point of course) b/c for the majority of my independent life i've lived in close proximity to others. But this woman makes us seem quiet at times. She hasn't said anything to us and after a month of living under her better not ever. You would think by the way she sometimes walks around her apt or always comes down the stairs that she was a) weighing 350 or better or b) had a herd of  african elephants in tow. She can't possibly weigh anymore than 140 and as far as i can tell is not harboring any contraband animals. Along with this a myriad of other mystery sounds filter from upstairs on occasion. These apts are fairly well insulated and its not to the point of aggervation by any means, but is occasionally amusing.

Where i'm headed is that this afternoon we could hear what initially we assumed was a tv, but it sounded strangely like muffled moaning. After joking about this for a few minutes and trying to decide whether it was him (the man that comes and goes and we assume is the boyfriend), her, or some combo thereof, we hear what was either a vacuum or a serious 120v vibe (think hitachi magic wand). This was made all the more hilarious by the fact that the buzzzz sound lasted about 5 minutes then stopped, more muffled sex-like noises, and then buzzzzz again. All this very well, and probably is, related to a TV or really loud talking boyfriend and spot cleaning but more enjoyable to think that our upstairs neighbor is having extremely noisy freaky monkey sex in her living room.

Of course this still falls short of the time in the dorms when me and my roomate could distinctively hear a bed on the next floor above us smacking the tile and then began to recieve a nice shower of spackle from the ceiling...ah the good times of college living.

another day in paradise

So yeah i'm tired of this job hunting shit, just give me a damn job already! Forget the fucking resumes and interviews, i'm just ready to have A job! Apparently i'm over-qualified for entry level positions and not experienced enough for upper level jobs. Wheres the middle ground? Oh wait thats right there is none. I encounter morons working jobs every single day and yet i can't get hired. Bullshit.

Ok now that thats out there, i'm actually in a pretty good mood, just bored...and broke. A horrible, horrible combination. I actually wouldn't mind be unemployed except for the whole everything takes money. Not implying i'm lazy (cum laude graduate here) just i'd be content to stay at home and create or...well yeah (of course wouldn't we all). Owning my own business is more my speed but well that requires money too.

So today i've been doing all the "around the house" stuff while Lace works. Laundry, dishes, cooking (i actually like that), etc. Anybody looking for a "full service house husband?" - not that you'd actually have to marry me, just support me in the way that i have become acustomed, well that and i'd have to like u, obviously. I jokingly tired to convince Chels to let us move in a few months back but alas she likes her solitude at home not to mention shes still trying to rid herself of the ex-boy.

So i'm thinking i need a drinking buddy tonight...yeah yeah its monday but anyday can be play day...jess? cinna? bueller? you in the pink?

beer

Pura Vida

So i was wondering about the lack of activity on here and myspace, and then it dawned on me- all of u are reading Harry Potter. I may have figured this out sooner except for a) i'm one of those rare ppl (or so it seems) who never got caught up in the hype of harry potter and b) heathers post about reading the new book or the fact that lace mentioned it came out last night never really clued me. I didn't connect the two events together till we where sitting here sipping Costa Rican beers. So all you Harry Potter fans...enjoy.

Which brings me to my next ramble- Costa Rican beer baby, after four years we finally found it in the states- @ sam's no less. Now i have no idea if this is the beginning of a trend and it may become as ubiqitous as, lets say, corona or if i'm just lucky. Whatever the case, i've loved Imperial beer since Lace brought it back from Costa Rica in 2003 and then we searched for it here (in ga) but to no avail and like so many other minor things it was forgotten. Until today! And we bought a whole case, and if they continue to carry it, it'll become a regular purchase. So if u enjoy a good beer then definitely see if u can find some Imperial beer.

Pura Vida. Its a lifestyle.
